Medical Matters and LMS Training
Have we forgotten what those ancient Greeks taught us? “Know thyself,” they said. In this day and age when all we’d ever like to know is just a few computer or smart phone keystrokes away, it seems like we would know a little more about ourselves. LMS training and online courseware also makes acquiring knowledge simple. But how familiar are we with our own bodies?
I’ll be the first to admit that I probably understand less than my 6th-grader niece about the human body. And I don’t think I’m alone. Unless you’re a medical student or a health care professional, you’re probably in the dark about most of what’s going on inside your skin.
LMS training may be used for medical students and health care providers to supplement real-life training and experience. However, you may be someone who simply wants to understand more about the human body. You may consider finding medical online courseware for your own growth and life enrichment.
LMS training is a versatile tool in the medical community, and can serve a number of purposes.
For example, LMS training can be deployed for medical management purposes on topics like cultural sensitivity. Increasingly, doctors and nurses are being called on to understand cross-cultural issues. Aetna is one company that provides such training using online courseware.
In part due to the scenario in which many Latinos in the U.S. immigrate from countries whose governments provide free or low-cost health care, chronic diseases affect the Latino demographic to a disproportionate degree.
And of course, language differences drastically affect doctor-patient relationships.
Online training in cultural issues for medics may be part of the solution to this problem. Medical professionals can be provided training videos and basic Spanish training to cover specific medical topics.
Just like any training program, whether it’s LMS training or face-to-face, rewards are important to ensure student success. For instance, Aetna provides credit for continuing education requirements to those who complete the training.
Course developers can use LMSs to create and customize their own training. LMS features may include video and audio; test and assessment; quiz and SCORM Publishing tools. Some also provide screen recordings, demos, and podcast-creation features for full and interactive customization. Online medical information and training are expanding worldwide, partly due to the ease and convenience of LMS training.
