Low self esteem is up at the top of the list with biggest problems in modern society. Self esteem is, according to psychologists, the level pf value a person places on their own worth. As a concept, that seems quite simple, but if you really ask yourself, how highly do I value my own self worth? Then you will see that it is not as simple to answer as it is to ask.
The reason why our self esteem constantly fluctuates is because these are times when everything is compared to something someone else has done. The speed at which self esteem drops down is no way comparable to the speed at which it is built up once again! One small phrase someone says can totally destroy our self esteem ” especially if that person is held in very high regard by us and the society at large; but to build it up, it is a painstaking process that takes a long time and constant mentor-ship.
Contrary to what many books will tell you, simply waking up and saying I feel great every morning isnt really going to do all that much to help your self esteem. Low self esteem is usually a result of bad experiences and negative memories. In order to genuinely increase self esteem, we need to explore each of these negative memories and all the insufficiencies you believe you have, and straighten them out individually. An expert is required for this, and with this very sensitive subject, an expert will have to have been there and done the whole low self esteem / depression thing and can speak from experience.
It is usually thought that low self esteem is something that effects people who have not been successful in life and are disappointed with what theyve achieved, however the fact is that self esteem rarely has anything to do with physical achievements in life, financially speaking at least. There are people who have all the riches you could ask for and who still have very low self esteem which makes their lives hell.
