Some of the better treadmills in the market come with many of the same features and can run you about the same amount of money, but if you’re comparing two of them like the Sole F85 and Smooth 7.35 treadmill there are some differences that you should consider. While they may appear similar on paper, some differences can be subtle. This is especially true if you aren’t entirely comfortable buying a treadmill.

Machine Specifications

Both versions are strong machines, but they do have slight differences. The Smooth is smaller in comparison to the Sole. The Sole has a bigger surface, and this should be taken into consideration if you are taller than average.  You wouldn’t want to feel uncomfortable, and change your walking or running pattern because the surface is small. Additionally, the rollers are larger as well as the motor. The Sole is simply heavier overall in comparison to the Smooth. This should be taken into consideration if you are a larger runner for stability.

Unit Warranty

When you’re spending money on a higher end treadmill, you expect to get a great warranty. Neither machine disappoints here, but you do get a slightly better warranty with the Sole. While both offer a lifetime warranty on the motor and deck as well as a five year warranty on parts and electronics, the Sole comes with a two year warranty on labor. The Smooth only has a one year labor warranty. 

Treadmill Features

When considering which treadmill to purchase, it is really important to compare the features. The Sole again comes slightly above the Smooth because it features arm rest controls instead of a control panel with buttons. Both machines do come with a heart monitor, but the Sole come with a user specific program option, so you can keep an eye on your individual progress. Additionally, the Sole comes with a wireless chest strap. The Smooth model does have a very readable LCD screen rather than the LED readout which is a nice feature.

In the end, the decision has to go to the Smooth 7.35. Surprised? While it is true that the Sole offers slightly more in many aspects, it doesn’t really stand out from the group. The extra features come at an extra price and it just isn’t possible to justify them unless you’re absolutely willing to spend more for even slight improvements. If you’re not sure which is the best treadmill between the Sole F85 and Smooth 7.35, the edge has to go to the Smooth model since it offers a little more bang for your buck.
